During the 2014 edition of Baselworld, Blancpain introduced its latest men’s time keeper. The Bathyscaphe Chrono Flyback is a dive watch whose modern design makes it easy to wear as an everyday accessory.
Bathyscaphe Chrono Flyback, a high-tech mechanism
In 1950, the luxury watch manufacturer Blancpain invented the Flyback chronograph. And today, the Swiss manufacturer reinvents one of its masterpieces, the Bathyscaphe which was equipped for this occasion with a very special mechanism, the Calibre F385. This brand new self-winding mechanism beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour. Furthermore, the flyback function of the watch allows an automatic resetting of the timer after pressing the pushbutton at 0400 hours. The power reserve of this new movement is of 50 hours.
The Bathyscaphe Chrono Flyback is water resistant and has dive-ready credentials up to 300 metres deep. Under water all the different functions of the watch can be used to their full potential as the pushbuttons are also water resistant.
An urban design
The new Blancpain timepiece is inspired by the original Bathyscaphe, a diver’s watch with a modern but nonetheless elegant design allowing its owner to wear it daily. The Bathyscaphe Chrono Flyback’s diameter is 43 mm and is available in stainless steel or black ceramic.
The bezel is LiquidMetal filled ceramic rendering it scratch proof. The domed dial is free of any numerals, however dots and lines allow an efficient reading of time. Finally, the superluminova process makes visible all the important elements present on the watch ideal when diving.
The Bathyscaphe Chronograph is available with either sailcloth straps or NATO straps – sturdy materials suited for aquatic use.
