The Icona Vulcano, introduced during the Salon Privé luxury and supercar show in 2013, continues to be the object of many desires. As a limited edition of one, its price has been estimated at 3 million euros, but a very limited collection might arise if investors are at the rendez-vous.
The Icona Vulcano, an intense design
Designed in China by an Italian car manufacturer who wished to be closer to the biggest automobile market in the world, the Icona Vulcano has all the characteristics of a traditional Italian sports car.
Available in a blazing red colour, its general design is resolutely sporty, synonymous of aggressive and dynamic driving. The vehicle nonetheless acquires elegance through its thin lines, its hood and fenders being slightly slimmer.
The car’s sparkling look is not unlike that of those found in famous automobile brand’s racing models, such as Ferrari and Bugatti. Nevertheless, this concept car distinguishes itself from the competition by being an exclusive model. Samuel Chuffart, the designer who lead this impressive project, explains his desire to differentiate this car from others by not massively producing it. This sports car should be available in only 5 editions starting fall 2014.
Two high tech engines for the Icona Vulcano
The Icona Vulcano will be offered with different engines. The first will be a V12 engine of 790 hp named H-Turismo, combined with an electric engine. Thanks to this system developed by Claudio Lombardi and inspired by the Formula One cars, the Icona Vulcano should be able to achieve the 950 hp. This process will allow the car to go from 0 to 124 mph under 10 seconds.
A second hybrid engine is also available named the H-Competizione. This twin turbo V6 engine coupled with two electric motors deliver a total of 870 hp, hitting the 62mph in 2.9 seconds.
According to Samuel Chuffart, other technologies may be adapted to increase the car’s power before the launching of its manufacturing.
The Icona Vulcano exclusive models will be available for no less than 3.8 million dollars.
